LeAnn Rimes: A Country Star with a Diverse Discography




LeAnn Rimes is one of the most successful country singers of all time. She has sold over 37 million records worldwide and won multiple Grammy Awards, among other accolades. She started her career at a very young age, releasing her first album Blue in 1996 when she was only 14 years old. Since then, she has released 17 studio albums, ten compilation albums, one live album, one soundtrack album, three extended plays (EPs), 60 singles, nine Christmas singles and 16 promotional singles. Blue (1996)




This was Rimes' debut album on Curb Records and her breakthrough in the country music scene. The album featured the hit single Blue, which was originally written for Patsy Cline and showcased Rimes' vocal resemblance to the legendary singer. The album also included the songs The Light in Your Eyes and One Way Ticket (Because I Can), which became her first number one country hit. The album sold over ten million copies worldwide and earned Rimes two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.


You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs (1997)




This was Rimes' second studio album and her first to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured a mix of inspirational songs, such as You Light Up My Life, The Rose and Amazing Grace, as well as pop songs, such as How Do I Live and I Believe in You. The album also included a radio remix of How Do I Live, which became one of the longest-running singles in Billboard history, peaking at number two on the Hot 100 chart and crossing over to several international markets. The album sold over four million copies in the US and earned Rimes three Grammy nominations.


Sittin' on Top of the World (1998)




This was Rimes' third studio album and her second to reach number one on the country albums chart. The album featured more pop-oriented songs, such as Commitment, Nothin' New Under the Moon and Sittin' on Top of the World, as well as country songs, such as Crazy, Purple Rain and The Heart Never Forgets. The album sold over one million copies in the US and earned Rimes a Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.


LeAnn Rimes (1999)




This was Rimes' fourth studio album and her first self-titled one. The album featured mostly cover songs of classic country artists, such as Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Patsy Cline. The album also included one new song, Big Deal, which became a top ten country hit. The album sold over one million copies in the US and earned Rimes a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.


I Need You (2001)




This was a compilation album released by Curb Records without Rimes' consent. The album featured four new songs, including I Need You and Can't Fight the Moonlight, which were both crossover hits from the soundtrack of the movie Coyote Ugly. The album also included remixes of previous songs, such as You Light Up My Life, How Do I Live and But I Do Love You. The album sold over one million copies in the US and earned Rimes a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
